"The City of Immigrants" is highlighted in the wide array of food found in the city. Like so many other things, New York is a leader in fine cuisine to old-fashioned diner food. New York Magazine Restaurants can help sort the best of both worlds in their weekly editions.

    Casual Dining

One of New York's most notable specialties is its pizza. Everyone has a favorite, but here are some recommendations:

Whether you like thin sliced, traditional pizza or thick crust Sicilian style, people come from all over the city to Mama Leone's in Manhattan.

Chinatown comes complete with some of the best Chinese food outside of China. Citysearch Chinese can help select some favorites:

Chinatown Ice Cream Factory offers free samples of its tropical longyan, mango, red bean and lychee flavors, in both ice creams and sorbets.

    For soul food:
Virgil's Real BBQ serves everything from chicken to pork to brisket smoked over variety of hickory, fruitwood, and oak to get their signature smoky flavor.
Sylvia's "Queen of Soul Food" offer true home cookin' and say the secret to their success are: Love, Family and Hard Work, Love of God, Love of Family, Love of Friends, Customers, and Love of Work.

Grand Central Station is home to five fine restaurants and twenty casual restaurants to suit any diners needs.

A wacky New York find is the Dessert Truck which is literally a truck in the East Village that offers delights like goat-cheese cheesecake and chocolate bread pudding.

New York dining is not complete without a visit to a Deli. Here are some listings from 10 Best New York Deli:
