    Social Security in Munich

Guides: Munich > Work / Social Security
    2/04/2008

Germany sees itself as a welfare state that considers the protection of its citizens as a priority. The German social security system can be divided into 5 main parts:

    • Pension insurance
    • Unemployment insurance
    • Health insurance
    • Care insurance
    • Companies accident insurance

Though there are exceptions, most employees with a German employment contract or people working in Germany are liable to all parts of the German social security.

Contributions to pension insurance, unemployment insurance, health insurance and care insurance are divided equally by the employer and the employee while the companies accident insurance is paid only by the employer.
