Childcare
Childcare is frequently advertised, but before trusting your child to anyone's
care make sure they have the proper accreditation and licensing. You need to
feel comfortable that your child will be safe and taken care of appropriately.
There is little difference between child care and pre-school
in Moscow. Most child care facilities offer at least language classes
and prepare children to be educated. There are a variety of child care facilities
available within Moscow. Many are centred on the dominant language, but there
are some that focus on activities like music. Prices also range with international
schools being some of the most expensive. Most local care centres cost around
5,000 rubles a month, and International School cost about 4,000 Euros a term.
The British and U.S. Embassy play groups are a popular option. The American
Day-Care Center and Pre-School (American Embassy, Devyatinsky Per.9, +7 (495)
956-4131) is located at the U.S. Embassy and costs around 130,000 rubles per
semester for non-diplomats' s children.
The Little Angel's
Kindergarten at Akademicheskaya maintains the main language as English since
they follow the British curriculum. They also offer Russian, French and German
tutelage 2-3 times a week.
Family Care, is
dedicated to helping expatriates and offers services for both nannies and childcare
centers. Located at Leninsky prosp., 6, this is an excellent service to check
into for all expats.
Ms. Poppins is located at Prechistenka
ul., 4, str. 2 and has a variety of child care options.
The English Baby Club is a Preschool
educational center. Teaching children from 1 to 5 years of age, all teachers
are native English-speakers.
Russian kindgartens are much less expensive and can offer a young child an
excellent base in Russian language. Kindergarten
45 is an example and offers classes for many ages in Moscow.
Babysitting
Babysitting is often done by family, a neighbour, or a family friend. Family
is often expected to watch children for free, and babysitter's are usually paid
less than professional care. Young women, often in high school or college, may
offer their services on-line service sites like Expat
RU's family section. Hotel chains will often offer childcare for visitors
of the hotel.
Prices and skill levels vary greatly along with prices, but it is best to hire
someone with some CPR skills and references. Prices very greatly with minimum
wage at 4330 roubles a month. Many of these jobs are unregulated however so
prices may be much lower.
