The application (Canadian speak about resumes instead of CVs) in Canada is more commercial than in most of the Western countries (maybe closer to the USA). And as usual with the complexity of the country you will find differences whether you apply in French or in English. In English-speaking, it's very much like in the US where you have to show accomplishment and action to sell yourself. But in the French part it's more formal and a little less direct.
