Prices depend on the amount you want to bring, your home and destination city, and the packing service you require (Full, partial or "owner packed" service, and the packing of special items such as antiques). In choosing a mover one has to weigh not only the price but also the experience and level of service offered. A good rule of thumb is that the more you value your household items, the more emphasis you should put on the quality of service.

Pricing: Intercontinental moves are priced by weight or volume. As a basic rule, consider that a large house of eight total rooms will require a 40 foot container. A large 2-bedroom apartment might require a 20 foot container (500 cubic feet). Smaller amounts might be shipped by air to avoid temporary housing costs while awaiting ocean delivery.

London to Toronto, 40 foot container: a full serviced move would cost starting from £7950. The cost only to ship the container is around £5800. For West Coast destinations add 20%. London to Toronto, 20 foot container: a full serviced move would cost starting from £5700. The cost only to ship the container is around £4600. For West Coast destinations add 20%. London to Toronto, small moves: for owner packed shipments the cost starts at £8.40 per cubic foot. For West Coast destinations add 25%. Moving Insurance for the household goods needs to be added. This is around 2% to 3% of the value of the goods being transported. Insurance for owner packed moves is extremely limited.
