    Preparing to go abroad includes securing important documents, making copies, and a lot of planning. Consider:

    • A valid passport (before applying for a visa double check the expiration date of your passport)
    • Tourists visiting for less than 90 days don't need a visa
    • Students, au pairs, and interns need a J1 or F1 visa
    • Employees need an H1 or L1 visa
    • If you're travelling on business you will need a tready trader E1 or E2 visa
    • Apply for your visa at the American Embassy
    • You will be interviewed to determine if you qualify
    • Your visa will be added in your passeport with the category and expiration date
