Football is the city's favourite sport. But there's ample opportunity for golfing, tennis, horse riding and watersports. A number of gyms dot the city and the Lisbon Sport Club is the city's premier golf course.

Thanks to the proximity of the Guincho beach, there's ample opportunity for watersports enthusiasts. Popular activities include sailing, waterskiing, windsurfing and body boarding.

The two main equistrian schools for horse riding are Centro Hípico da Costa do Estoril (Tel: 21 487 20 64) and Centro Hípico da Quinta da Marinha (Tel:21 486 92 82).
