Part time office work or customer service position
Sector: Admin, Office, PA, HR
Job search (short statement...): I am looking for a part-time job (20 hours per week), while I work on my MA thesis. I am interested in office work or in a customer service position.
Experience: I have previous experience in a variety of administrative and customer service jobs that I believe make me desirable for various positions. During my first job working at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Elon University campus, I learned many important skills, such as multi-tasking, handling money and providing quality customer service. While working at Action Reconciliation Service for Peace, a non-profit organization in Berlin, I improved my organizational skills by helping to organize seminars and over 20 summer volunteer programs throughout Europe, the U.S. and Israel. As the assistant to the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, I learned to work in a fast passed environment and to be extremely detail oriented. In addition, I further sharpened my organizational skills by helping to organize museum events for students and visitors. I also worked at the reception desk once a week. As the face of the museum, I welcomed guests and answered their questions both in person and over the phone. In addition, I spent a summer working as the receptionist for Rover Kennels. In this position, I was responsible for greeting guests and was hired in particular for my warm personality and people skills. I also had to be extremely detail oriented, while entering information into the computer database to ensure the dogs received proper food and medication. In my most recent job, I worked as a volunteer for the Foundation for Prussian Palaces and Gardens, where I assisted with databank entry, organizing the new library and researching the origins of objects in the collection.
Education: I hold a B.A. in International Studies and Art History with specializations in German and Classical Studies from Elon University in the U.S., where I excelled with honors. These studies taught me to think critically and provided me with opportunities to encounter different cultures. During my studies, I engaged in extra-curricular activities, serving as the secretary and historian for one of the cultural organizations on campus, while also participating in community service projects. Currently, I am studying for an M.A. in Holocaust Communication and Tolerance Studies at Touro College in Berlin. In addition to my regular classes, I also gained more organizational experience by helping to coordinate a summer school course for undergraduate students and also assisted with research, translation and editing for a temporary exhibition about the Holocaust held at the German Resistance Museum in Berlin. These various experiences from my studies have provided me with tools beneficial for my professional life.
