In general in Hong Kong, you need a work visa to work there and a company sponsor that accepts to hire you. The immigration department will also ask you for a CV, a copy of your degrees and maybe some other documents.

It has to be pointed out that not every job is possible to find in Hong Kong. As they get a lot of cheap labour from mainland China, for instance, they do not expect Caucasians to do blue collar work (such as waiting on tables or working on a building site). You will only find work like this if it is in a niche area (for example, being an Italian waiter in an upmarket Italian restaurant).

CV, covering letter and interview

For the Curriculum Vitae, one to two pages are enough. the covering letter should be no longer than 3 or 4 paragraphs. More and more letters are emailed and typed on computers nowadays.

During the interview, you will have to describe and explain your experience noted in your CV. Avoid talking about the salary at the first interviews and wait for the company to offer you the position before you raise the subject.
