Dubai does not have any obligatory state or employer-contribution social security plans. Residents who are not UAE nationals are entitled to basic healthcare and there is pressure on companies to provide healthcare plans for employees in order to ease the pressure on the healthcare system caused by the large number of expatriate workers in the country.
