International healthcare, medical insurance

Health insurance is included in payment of taxes, but there are many problems within the system. For expatriates living and/or working in Moscow, the same access to the healthcare system may not be possible. There are some exceptions as some countries do have reciprocal health care agreements with Russia. For example, British nationals do not need separate health insurance because their domestic health insurance is valid in Russia as well.

Employment by a Russian company usually offers free health insurance which you can use in any policlinic or hospitals.

If you are a student in Russia, you are provided with free health care by your university.

Travel Insurance can help protect you while you are away. Before purchasing travel insurance, make sure the policy will be recognized by Russian medical facilities. You will find more details in our Travel Guide.
