How to look for work

Finding a job in Lisbon isn't easy especially for a foreigner. But it's not impossible either. Newspapers, employment websites, personal contacts and employment agencies are the most important ways of landing a job in this city. Of course, knowledge of Portugese will help immensely.

Below are some resources that will help you in your job hunt in Lisbon.

CV, cover letter and interview

Every country has its own requirements for a perfect CV. A Portugese CV is typewritten, usually in reverse chronological order - beginning with the most recent job, on two to maximum four pages. Pay attention to the clear presentation and structure of the Portugese CV by numbering each section like 'Personal Details', 'Education', 'Professional Training', 'Work Experience', 'Leisure Activities' separately i.e.

It is more common in Portugal to apply for a job through the Internet. However, you should be aware that an electronic CV does not look the same as a standard one. CVs are often scanned by employers, so make your CV scannable by avoiding lines, italic fonts etc.
