Gas in Panama

Most people renting apartments in Panama use gas which is connected to the apartment building's central infrastructure, thus, gas payments are part of rent. If one lives in a house, they must find a provider themselves.

An average price for gas is usually anywhere between $15-$40 USD for an apartment.

Electricity in Panama

There is only one electricity provider in Panama called Union Fenosa. The service is turned on after making an appointment with UF and making a deposit. Once this is done, it takes one to two weeks for an employee to come to your home and turn on the electricity. The sooner that you make your appointment, the better. 

Most places in Panama use 110 volt, but there is actually some variation in sockets between type A and type B. You should bring plugs for both.

Water Service in Panama

Like electricity, homeowners must make an appointment for water to be turned. Like the gas, apartment buildings will have the water turned on and provided for the building, and the building will pay for the water.

It is safe to drink the tap water in Panama City and most of the country, except for the province of Bocas del Toro.

The water in Panama City is provided by a government owned company called Instituto de Acueductos y Alcantarillados Nacionales (IDAAN).
