Language courses

Language courses, with the majority involved in English, are offered by a wide range of institutions and community organizations. Some migrants pay Immigration New Zealand for English language tuition before they arrive in New Zealand. This is often referred to as 'pre-paid ESOL'. The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) then works with migrants to manage their English language tuition when they arrive.

Auckland Language School offers a variety of programs for students interested in language. Courses range from 4 weeks to several months. Fees vary.

Kaplan International has English courses and is accredited by NZQA.

The Correspondence School also offers a range of ESOL courses.

Euroasia Language Academy features a variety of language courses including English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

A national network of volunteer home tutors also offers free elementary ESOL tuition for adult migrants. The volunteer tutors visit homes and provide migrants unable to attend formal language classes with individual tuition.
