There are a range of courses and schools for adult students from beginner to advanced. Most are at polytechnics and universities.

The University of Auckland's Centre of Continuing Education established in 1936, offers lifelong learning opportunities to the University's regional, national and international communities and professional bodies.

Massey University offers certificate, diploma and degree courses by correspondence.
The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand (TOPNZ) offer certificate, diploma and degree courses by correspondence.
