Working Hours in Mozambique

Normal working hours for businesses in Mozambique occur between 8am and 5pm, with a break midday that typically lasts from 12 - 2.

A maximum workweek is 48 hours.

Wages

Minimum wage in Mozambique is roughly M 70 per day, with slight variations between industries.

Salary

There is an enormous range in salaries in Mozambique, and the majority of the country does not work with a fixed annual salary.

Within the expatriate community there is just a big a range in salaries. Often, your salary will depend on the sector in which you work and the nature of your job.

Termination

During an employee's probationary period, employers can terminate employment for any reason, provided they give 7 days of notice.

Requirements for termination and the associated compensation depends on the type of contract and the reason for termination. Generally, employees and employers must provide a minimum of a week's notice if they are going to terminate their contract.

Time Off

Workers are entitled to 15 days of paid annual leave, after they have completed 12 months or 200 days of continued service. They are also entitled to paid public and religious holidays.

Workers entitled to 2 days of rest per week, unless they are domestic workers or task-based workers.

Holidays

Additionally, there are some holidays that are specific to particular cities and religious groups.
