Cinema

It is impossible to talk about cinema in Casablanca without talking about the 1942 film. Set in the Vichy-controlled Morocco of World War II, it is one of the most respected films of all time. Famous films such as Orson Welles's "Othello", Alfred Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much", and David Lean's "Lawrence of Arabia" were also filmed in this cinematic city.

Movies like 1897's "Le chevalier Marocain" mark the start of Morocco's home-grown movie scene. Cinema has continued to develop int eh city and country with the 1944 creation of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center.
