Football (soccer for North Americans) is the most popular sport in Malta, with each Maltese village hosting its own team. Popular local teams include Birkirkara FC, Floriana FC, and Valletta FC. Malta also has a national football team that competes internationally. The Malta Football Association is the country's national football authority, and publishes match schedules and results online.

The Aquatic Sports Association (ASA) is the national water polo and swimming authority in Malta, and publishes meet schedules and results online.

Stadiums

Malta's National Stadium is located at Ta Qali (in Ta Qali National Park), and hosts local and international football matches and concerts. It also houses a pool, training grounds, and gymnasium.

Popular local sports include football and water polo. Major sporting events in Malta include the local football playoffs, and water polo playoffs. Major football games are played at the National Stadium in Ta Qali, and major water polo matches are hosted at the National Pool in Msida.

Gyms are located in nearly all villages in Malta, with a high concentration in popular expat villages Sliema and St. Julian's.

Average gym prices are €20-€50 per month. Most gyms in Malta also offer fitness classes and personal trainers.

Student and senior discounts are available, as are couples' and family packages. Some gyms also offer off-peak discounts.

Most hotels and resorts in Malta also have gym facilities, which are open to the public with various membership options available.
