Cinema

Cinemas can be found in Valletta (Embassy, and St. James Centre for Creativity), St. Julian's (Eden) and Bugibba (Empire).

Cinema tickets cost €5-€8, and can be purchased in advance online (where you can often select your seat ahead of time). Concessions - popcorn, soft drinks, candy, beer, hotdogs and nachos - are available to purchase at movie theatres.

Movies in Malta are shown in English. Blockbuster movies are most commonly screened, with independent films screened most commonly at the St. James Centre for Creativity in Valletta.

Nightclubs

The concentration of nightclubs in Malta can be found in Paceville, between St. Julian's and Sliema. Here you'll find a range of clubs to suit every taste - from techno dance clubs to British style pubs.

Drink prices in Paceville are very cheap, as club promoters hand out free and buy one get one free drink tickets to revelers in Paceville's main street (St. George Street). Paceville also has many restaurants, cafés and hotels, as well as a shopping centre, movie theatre, beach, and bowling alley.

Before midnight, Paceville is filled with younger ESL students and local teenagers. After midnight an older crowd fills the streets and bars. Bars in Paceville shut down from 2-4 am. Taxi stands are located around Paceville's perimeter. A bus terminal is also located near Paceville.

Most nightclubs in Malta do not charge cover prices, unless there is a special show or performance on.

Malta's famous open-air clubs (such as Gianpula and Club Numero Uno) are located mainly in Ta Qali National Park. Public transportation buses and cabs service this area. These clubs normally charge a small cover fee - €5-€15 - for admission, and regularly host themed parties. Open-air clubs operate during the summer months, from May to September, and boast such attractions as swimming pools, restaurants, and VIP huts.
