Hotels and Bed and Breakfast in Valletta

Tools:

Malta's official language (English), its currency (Euro), its central geographic location, and its mild, sunny climate make the island a very popular holiday destination. There are accommodation options in Malta for everyone at every price range. Typical accommodation categories include hotels, B&Bs, and resorts.

Large hotels and resorts are situated primarily in Sliema, St. Julian's, Paceville, and Valletta. Popular chains include the Intercontinental, Hilton, Radisson, Le Meridien, Corinthia, Westin, etc. There are also many high-quality locally owned large hotels. You can also find large hotels in Gzira, St. Paul's Bay, Mellieha, and Cirkewwa. There is also one hotel on the tiny island of Comino. Large hotel rates are typically €80-€150 per night during high season.

Luxury hotels can be found in Valletta, Sliema, St. Julian's, Paceville, Mdina, Balzan, and in Gozo. Luxury hotel rates are typically €200-€350 per night during high season.

Smaller hotels can be found throughout the island, and many have apartment-style rooms (including kitchenettes and sleeping arrangements for 4+ occupants). Rates start from €50 per night.

Malta had the lowest hotel rates in Western Europe as of 2012: the average cost from January to June is €73 per night.

B&B's and Guesthouses

Smaller B&Bs can be found throughout Malta and Gozo, and are normally situated in traditional Maltese townhouses or villas.

To find B&Bs in Malta, you can consult popular accommodation web sites such as TripAdvisor and OwnersDirect.

Guesthouses, or short-term holiday rentals, are another popular accommodation option in Malta. These can be found directly through owners or through real estate agencies, and are typically priced on a per week basis. Rates are highest during the summer months (June-September), at Carnival, and at Easter.

To find short-term accommodation, you can consult newspaper classifieds, such as the Times of Malta. You may also search on local classified web sites, such as di-ve, Malta Park, izejd, okMalta, or Free Ads Malta. Another great source of listings is OwnersDirect and local real estate agency web sites.
