Sightseeing

Kuwait Towers - Kuwait's most iconic landmark, with the main tower standing 82 meters tall.

Entertainment City - Kuwait's main theme park, built in 1984. The park needs refurbishment and probably won't appeal to children over the age of 10. The park is a twenty to thirty minute drive from the city.

Khiran Resort - A beach front resort located 110KM from Kuwait City, close to the border with Saudi Arabia. The facility features Studios, Villas and Chalets and offers a family friendly environment.

Green Island - The regions first artificial island built in 1988. The island is in need of refurbishment. It is popular with the locals as a place to come with your family and picnic by the sea front. Admission is 1KD per person.

The Scientific Center - Located along the Gulf Road, the center offers visitors a chance to visit an aquarium and an IMAX theater. The center is famous for its science exhibitions, which change several times per year. Memberships are available at a nominal cost per year.

Failaka Island - One of Kuwait's most famous offshore islands (approximately 20KM from mainland Kuwait), with lots of historical artifacts to see. Daily trips can be arranged by visiting ticket centers near the Marina Mall

A trip to Kuwait's land border crossing with Saudi Arabia is something to consider doing. You can literally drive right to the edge of Kuwait's land border, make a U-turn and head back. The tiny border town of Al-Wafra is very unique in that the town literally straddles Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

If you're a little braver, make a trip to one of several border crossings with Iraq. Granted, there's very little to see or do at either land crossing. However, as few people will ever have an opportunity to visit either country, just seeing the border crossing can make for an interesting dinner conversation. The trip is safe. The only exception is, driving to the northern crossings with Iraq. Unexploded landmines may still exist. It is highly recommended that you drive ONLY on paved roads. Driving off into the desert up north can be extremely dangerous.

DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF ANY LAND BORDER CROSSINGS!!
