On the 2015 World Press Freedom Index of Reporters Without Borders, Jamaica is ranked 9th out of 189 countries. Two free-to-air TV stations and 49 cable or subscriber television companies are operating in Jamaica. In addition, you can tune into any of 29 radio stations licensed to broadcast in Jamaica. There are nine or more ISPs operating either nationally or regionally. Via the Internet, there is access to other multimedia content from all parts of the world.

The two TV stations have multiple channels. Apart from what they use for regular programming, they use other channels to carry repeat broadcasts, live sports events, extended coverage of news events or other special programming.

Internet

The full range of wireless broadband in configurations including 4G, data and Internet Protocol (IP) services are available in Jamaica through a number of providers. This service range includes complete data support; cloud services; hosted e-mail service; dedicated internet access; Wi-Fi hotspot; Metro Ethernet and Internet/ Network-based customized VPN.

The Broadcasting Commission regulates media services in Jamaica. This includes ensuring that broadcasters have content rights, content rating guides are available and that censured material (e.g., grossly indecent content) is restricted.
