The Public Bus Service (BEST) is a system run by a government organisation.
It has a fleet of red single and double decker buses. There are air conditioned
buses as well. While the buses cannot be compared to buses in most European
capitals, Mumbai is said to have the best and safest organised bus transport
network among major Indian cities. Click

Local railway lines connect all corners of the city with one another. While
the train network is good, it struggles to keep up with the rapid growth of
population and currently the network carries three times the number of people
it is designed for during peak hours. There have been more than 20,000 deaths
as a result in the last five years. Click

There are a number of taxi options; the no-frills black and yellow metered
taxi, the air-conditioned blue and silver metered cabs known as Cool Cabs and
Radio taxis. An even cheaper alternative is the three-wheeled autorickshaw.
These are however not allowed in certain parts of the city. Click

Ferries connect Vashi to the Gateway of India. Ferry services are also available
to visit the Elephanta Caves and other nearby places.
