Skype, Google, and Other Ways to Connect

Skyping, Facebook messenger or Facetiming is a great way to communicate with your loved ones at home. You can still use your account anywhere as long as Wi-Fi or 3G or 4G is offered on your phone. Some people like to stay connected through texting on aps like Whatsapp. Experiment and find a device and program that works for you. Connect with other expats on the forums or in expat interviews to find out what they are using.

Using these aps can incur high costs as they use a lot of data and can easily lead to overages. Try to use them on Wi-Fi to save on data.
