The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is accepted in Hungary for emergencies. Most pharmacies accept the card and only the subsidized cost is payable for prescribed medicine.

General Practitioner/Doctor

Doctors in Hungary are properly trained and skilled at what they do. Most doctors speak Hungarian along with fluency or basic communicative skills in English.

Residents can choose their general practitioner for themselves and/or their children once they have received their insurance card.
