Hong Kong could never be accused of being lacking where food an entertainment are concerned. You can find everything here from American pizzas to snake soup (generally consumed in the winter months), and dine anywhere from Pizza Hut to a world class restaurant through to a hawker stall by the side of the road.

Seafood

If seafood is what you’re after then you just have to pay a visit to Sai Kung, right on the sea front. Here you can go scuba diving, walk along the beach, eat, or do all three. There are a countless number of restaurants here, so you can take your time looking around before choosing one.

  The variety of dishes served at this restaurant is mind-boggling. The seafood is very, very fresh and this is reflected in how good it all tastes. You can even choose your very own lobster/crab/strange looking fish from the tank and have it served to you table.

• Rainbow Seafood Restaurant
  Lamma Island is not only a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Hong Kong, it’s also a great place to find fresh seafood. You’d have to take a ferry (free as long as you book at the restaurant ahead of time) to this car-free island, but believe me it’s well worth the journey.

Dim Sum

It would be a terrible shame to come to Hong Kong and not have dim sum (‘touch the heart’) at least once. Traditionally served from breakfast until lunchtime, most dim sum restaurants now serve it all day and evening. From their small beginnings as something to eat while drinking tea, dim sum has now become a gastronomic experience in itself.

  One of the things most Brits abroad miss most about home is the Indian food. And the beer. Oh, and the big screens playing rugby, football or whatever match happens to be going on at the time.
