With its almost 150 theatrical stages Athens can claim to have more theatres than any other city in the world. These include the ancient Herodes Atticus Theatre, home to the Athens Festival, which runs from May to October each year.

The city also supports a vast number of music venues, including the Athens Concert Hall, known as the "Megaron Moussikis", which attracts world-famous artists all year round and is considered to have one of the finest acoustics in the world.
