Finding Accommodation, Flatsharing, Hostels

Through an estate agent

The estate agent will take a fee (about 2 or 3 times the price of the rent) if he finds accommodation that you are looking for. You can deduct from your tax certain estate agency fees. Ask your tax office (Finanzamt).

Through a central agency (Mitwohnzentrale)

  • CityMitwohnzentrale, an der Staufenmauer 3, City - Tel.: 069 29 61111,
for those who are looking for rented accommodation: 069 19340,
    for those who are looking for letting or a flatmate : 069 29611 11 - Mon.-Fri. 9-13h + 14-18h, Sat. 10-13h
  • HomeCompany, Sandweg 106, Tel.:069 19445, 069 44 77 06
  • Mitwohnzentrale, Frankfurt-city, 069 28 43 40 / 069 29 6 111

Directly by contacting people

Each Thursday (for Inserat) or each Saturday (for the Frankfurter Rundschau). You must get up very early (6.00am) to buy the newspaper and call as soon as possible to get an appointment. First come, first served and best chance to get the accommodation.

Through friends

A lot of tenants have a 2 years contract and have to leave Frankfurt before the end of 2 years. In this case, they should look for someone to replace them to stop paying the rent. A lot of people are in this situation in Frankfurt…

Using an adviser

Mieterberatung Frankfurt e.V. Tel. : 069 45 1086.
In order to get information on rent conditions, former tenant etc., call that number and they will help you.

Do not use Citymitwohncentrale when trying to find accommoda
I had major problems with this agency. Not only is their customer service next to nothing they also charge more than they say. I would urge anyone not to use this agency. Thankyou
