Be sure to make time to visit
Korkeasaari zoo,
which it is situated on its own island, in a cove near the city centre by
Kruunuvuori
Bay. During the summer months, the best way to get to the Helsinki
Zoo is with public transport: a fifteen-minute ferry journey from
Kauppatori
or
Hakaniemi, or the
Zoo
Line Bus 11 from
Herttoniemi metro station
to the Zoo. Limited parking is available in
Mustikkamaa
and
Kulosaari. During the
wintertime
Bus 16 or the metro to
Kulosaari take you closest: a 1.5-km walk to the Zoo. Zoo Line Bus
11 operates only on weekends.
