If you want to call abroad from Ecuador, you only have to dial the country code first. However, not all plans support calls to other countries.

To Call Ecuador Internationally

The country code of Ecuador is +593 and each province has an area code. The area code of Pichincha, the province of Quito, is 02 and all mobile phone numbers start with 09.

When you are in the same province and you are calling from a landline, it is not necessary to dial the area code. Note that it is necessary from a mobile phone.


In most cases, people buy their landline plan together with WIFI. The main providers:

  • CNT
  • TV Cable
  • Claro


The provider will install your phone line; the only requirement is that your house has a phone connection.

Public Phones

There are not a lot of public phones in Ecuador, due to the high popularity of mobile phones. Some internet cafes have public phones that also allow you to call abroad.

Mobile Phones

Although cell phone plans are getting increasingly popular, you can also choose for a prepaid option. Prepaid products can be easily loaded in shops, supermarkets or through your Ecuadorian bank account. Depending on your mobile phone use, the mainly costs lie between $15 USD and $30 USD.
