Cinema in Bogota

Cinemas in Bogota are located mostly in shopping centers, however there are a few independent ones as well. The city has a busy cultural agenda, with a long list of film festivals throughout the year displaying both foreign and local productions.

Films may be in original language, but it is more common for them to be dubbed in Spanish, so if you prefer the original version make sure you select a screening that mentions that. Ticket prices vary, depending on the cinema hall, the hour, and the day of the week, with week-end screenings costing the most.

The current cinema schedule and a full list of cinemas can be found on Cine.Colombia.Com.

Nightclubs in Bogota

While other, more "tropical" cities in Colombia are more famous for their crazy nightlife, don't let the capital's cold reputation fool you: Bogota has one of the busiest nightlife scense in Latin America.

A night out starts early in Bogota, and don't be surprised to find nightclubs filling up around 8 p.m and closing at 3 a.m. On week-end nights, bars generally ask for a cover to be paid upon entering, that generally amounts to 5-15 USD. Some include a courtesy drink in the entrance price, though most of them don't. There are also nightclubs that don't require a cover, but drinks are generally more expensive.

The best party areas are scattered throughout the city and each caters to a different audience and taste. While historical La Candelaria has a lively atmosphere due to its large student population, trendy areas further north such as Zona Rosa tend to attract young middle-class professionals and are also popular among foreigners. If you are looking for the ultimate local experience, Galerias is one of the nightlife hotspots that cannot be missed, and if you want to get to know the local salsa scene, you can find specialized salsa bars in various places in Bogota.

There are no special rules when entering a nightclub, however, keep in mind some basic tips:
