    The school was the first international school in Shanghai to be officially recognised by and registered with the Chinese government. It has three campuses, at Hongqiao, Gubei and Pudong. The Gubei campus offers boarding facilities for pupils whose families are working elsewhere in China. The school's curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England, which is augmented with Chinese language and culture lessons and violin instruction. The is used for Years 10 and 11, while the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is used for the last two years of Secondary school, Years 12 and 13.

The opportunity to study Mandarin as a foreign language is offered from Year 1 to Year 9.

Advanced Mandarin speakers take the IGCSE exam early and move on to AS level.

    The Western International School of Shanghai is not mentioned in this website.

    The western international school of shanghai follows a complete IB curriculum from Nursery to G12. There are over 40 different nationalities in the school. We aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

    Smiling Star International Kindergarten
    Smiling Star (Singapore) was established in 2001 and we currently have 18 branches in Singapore and 1 international branch in Malaysia. We have just started our international branch in Shanghai which is located in Jin Qiao, Pudong. Our kindergarten is running a bilingual education approved by Singapore MOE with English as our first language and Chinese as the second language.
