Benefits package

Employees accept job offers not only upon the salary, but on the benefits that accompany many positions. Whether the applicant in Brazil is an individual or responsible for a family, employee benefits are a "job perk" that many applicants seek.

There are a variety of benefits offered, but the most common is health benefits. Benefits like dental, health, and vision ensure the employee is more likely to remain with the company for the long term. Another possible benefit may be retirement plans to ensure that they and their family will be financially secure later in life. Employees prefer 401K plans, employee stock ownership plans, and private pension plans.

Life insurance and disability insurance can also be an attractive benefit. Life insurance is part of an employee benefits package that can help an employee keep their family and loved ones secure in the event of their death. Meanwhile, if something should happen to the employee where they cannot work for health reasons or due to an injury, disability insurance can help alleviate any financial issues that the employee may encounter.

As standard practice, Brazilian law calls for a 13th month salary to be paid at the end of the year. An added incentive is that an annual bonus (and a vacation bonus) are often awarded depending on performance. A generous maternity leave is also granted, as well as a paternity benefits (5 days for the father).
