In the current social security distribution system, Andorra is unable to face the public pensions high demand, since the percentage of retired population is higher than that of active workers.

In order to counteract this situation, the state encourages using private pension plans characterized by a decrease in the tax base of income tax, among other outstanding benefits.

In the event that you are thinking about contracting a pension plans in Andorra, you need to be informed about all the details that you will have to keep in mind when doing so.

Expat Pension Plans

Those who have been listed in Spain, France or Portugal (countries with a bilateral Agreement on Social Security) must present their documentation to the CASS to request the corresponding retirement benefit.

If your country does not allow for years worked in Andorra to count toward your state pension, there may be an opportunity to buy back time once you have returned to your home country and are once again contributing to the pension plan. Again, inquire with your state plan about the particulars.

Where to apply

To claim a social welfare payment you should fill out the correct application form and return it to the Department of Social Security.
