A quoi correspond le 'Tax Code' anglais?

Votre code d'imposition (tax code) est communiqué par Inland Revenue pour votre employeur, afin de calculer le montant correct d'impôt (PAYE) qui devra être déduit chaque mois de votre salaire.

Voici quelques exemples de codes:
* 489L
* 489P, 489V, 315Y, 315T
* K384
* BR, OT, DO

Hormis pour les derniers, votre code est habituellement formé par des chiffres et une lettre:
-> La lettre est utilisée afin de déterminer de quelle façon le revenu sera taxé. La plus commune est L: code d'imposition avec un abattement (Personal allowance) complet. Vous trouverez les autres lettres expliquées sur le site d'Inland Revenue.

-> Les chiffres sont utilisés pour déterminer votre abattement (tax free pay allowance) ainsi: Tax allowance = Nombre X 10 + Y.
Par exemple, en 2005 votre code pouvait être 489 (probablement 489L) car l'abattement était de £4,895.
