    Cinema

    Edinburgh has a number of cinemas featuring mainstream, foreign language and arthouse films. Ticket prices are usually about 7.50 GBP.

    • Cineworld (Address: 130 Dundee St) - Mainly mainstream films.
    • Dominion (Address: Newbattle Terrace) - Mainstream & alternative films. One screen has two and three-person leather sofas.
    • Odeon Cinema (Address: Lothian Rd) - Mainstream & alternative films.

    In addition, there are two repertory cinemas, the Edinburgh Filmhouse, and the Cameo.

    Nightclubs

    Edinburgh has a number of clubs, but Glasgow holds the title of the most vibrant night-life in Scotland. For clubs in Edinburgh, the areas around Grassmarket, Lothian Road, Rose Street, Leith Walk, Broughton Street, George Street and Cowgate are the best.

    • The Liquid Room - Live-music and clubbing venue
    • Cabaret Voltaire - One of the city's most electric subterranean clubs and rock venue. Holds small live shows.
    • Po Na Na - In New Town, this night spot holds 350 people
    • Opal Lounge - Plush George Street bar for stylish clientèle
    • The Bongo Club - By day the Bongo is a cafe, exhibition and rehearsal space. At night it's a multi-functional media venue for live music, theatre and clubs.
    • The Voodoo Rooms - Attractive bar with live music in a 200 year-old building. Holds small live concerts.
    • The Hive - The Hive holds 650 club-goers in a 2-room club.
    • MV Picture House - A huge facility with 1,500 capacity.

    Live Music

    Edinburgh has been listed amongst the UK's top ten "most musical" cities. It certainty supports enough live music to uphold the title. Large concerts are often held at the stadiums at Murrayfield and Meadowbank, with mid-sized events at venues such as the Corn Exchange, HMV Picture House, the Liquid Room, and the Bongo Club. Small shows are often featured at Cabaret Voltaire, The Voodoo Rooms, The Roxy Art House, Bannerman's, Henry's Cellar Bar, and Sneaky Pete's.
