United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was created on 2nd of December 1971 and is a
group of seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah,
Umm Al Quwain). The UAE's federal capital is Abu Dhabi, ruled by the president
of the UAE. The vice-president is Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid al Maktoum, who
is also the ruler of Dubai. Dubai is the business capital of the UAE and Sharjah
it's cultural capital.
The United Arab Emirates is led by a Supreme Council, made up of the individual
rulers of the seven emirates. The Supreme Council elect a new President and
Vice-President every five years. The ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, also holds the positions of Vice President and Prime Minister
of the UAE. A Council of Ministers is elected by the Supreme Council, and a
Federal National Council, with members from all of the emirates, reviews new
laws.
