Mail Service

Mail service can be unreliable. Outgoing and incoming mail to other countries takes from 4 to 21 days. Always use the registered mail facility to post anything of value. This process takes longer, but each step of the journey is recorded.

There are two kind of mail boxes for international and domestic use. They are typically found on the street in pairs, colored green and yellow.

Parcels

Outgoing parcels and big packages must be weighed to estimate cost. Some incoming parcels are subject to inspection and customs, and valuables will be charged by a calculated fee.

Postcodes

Egypt postal codes differ from one city to another, and even within the same city. Within Cairo, codes are from 11511 to 11668.

Stamp Prices

A stamp to an Arab country costs 1.50 EGP. To send mail to another country, stamps cost 2 EGP.
