    In 1990 the state owned telecom company Entel was split in two and privatized. Telecom (France Telecom - Telecom Italia Consortium) got the monopoly in the North of the country, Telefónica received the assignment for the South of the country. Buenos Aires is covered by both.

    Voiceover IP (VoIP) service provides another alternative for customers who have high speed Internet service.
