    Creches, nurseries, nannies...

    Several possibilities are offered to the parents from newborns to the age of 3. However it is advised to submit your demand as soon as possible during the pregnancy as waiting lists can be very long.

    Everything about small children is controlled by the Office de la Naissance et de l'Enfance (O.N.E.) for French speaking people or Kind en Gezin, for Dutch speakers (whether they are part or not of the grant system).

    For the list of nurseries, visit: http://www.one.be/mildacc/ma.html

    Organisations controlled (and who get subsidies) by the ONE or Kind en Gezin are:

    • Creches/Nurseries (from 0 to 3 years old);
    • Childcare organisations - pre-gardiennats (from 18 months to 3 years old);
    • Nannies certified (from 0 to 3 years old).

    Organisations controlled (and who do NOT get subsidies) by the ONE or Kind en Gezin are:

    • Independent childcare (from 0 to 6 years old);
    • Child houses (from 0 to 3 years old);
    • Part-time nurseries (from 0 to 3 years old) maximum 4 hours a day.

    Childcares can take care, at their domicile, a maximum of 3 to 4 children and must have skills and infrastructure (accommodation, material...) for the tasks.

    Prices are fixed during the day and vary depending on the income of the houshold, the number of children in the family. The price is about 20 euros/day. You can deduct the price paid for the care of a child less than 3 year old from your tax declaration.

    Babysitting

    If you are looking for a childcare for the evening, you can ask you neighbours, friends or simply look into the yellow pages and the free ad website lili.be with a lot of ads of youths who offer their service.
