    Cost of Living

Barcelona's cost of living has steadily increased year after year. Though it is much more expensive than most other cities in Spain, it is still reasonable compared to many other European cities.

      Basic costs:

    • Loaf of bread - 0.95 euro
    • Milk (one liter) - between 0.70 and 1.30 euro
    • 12 eggs - between 1.60 and 2.20 euro
    • Kilo of tomatoes - 2.50 euro
    • Beer (bar) - 2.50 euro
    • Beer (supermarket) - 1.20 euros
    • Trousers - 60 euro
    • Cinema ticket - 7 euro
    • Fast Food Burger - 3.40 euro
    • Set menu - 9+ euro
    • T10 Metro Ticket (10 journeys) - 8.25 euro

    Prepare for your Housing Search

Research, research, and introspection should define your pre-accommodation search. Familiarize yourself with the different areas and find where you want to live. Read blogs from the area, find official resources, visit the different areas. Ask yourself questions like:
How big a place do you want? A studio? A three room flat?
Where do you want to live? Somewhere close to your work? In the trendiest part of town? East or West?
    What's your price range?
With answers to these important questions you can begin to think of a specific place.

    Short-term Accommodation

Short-term accommodation can help you and your family get situated after the move without having to make any permanent decisions quite yet. They also offer the opportunity to get to know the area and your needs before picking permanent accommodations.

To find the perfect short-term rental, go to Subrent.

    Flatsharing

A flatshare is usually a great value and can provide an expat with an opportunity to get to know a new Barcelona with a local. A room in the center costs about 350-500 euro.

An important trait in any roommate situation is having boundaries and a clear understanding of what each roommate requires. To protect yourself against potential problems, make sure to have a contract that explicitly states rights and responsibilities.

FLATSHARING : A NEW WAY OF LIFE

Instead of living in a pokey attic room with huge rent, why not try shared accommodation? Frequently associated with students, sharing is spreading nowadays towards older established workers and covers people from 18 to 49 years old. Without falling into a community style of life such as in the 70's, you can choose to share an accommodation in Barcelona for a bigger space, less expense.

Flatsharing is a way to meet more and more followers who choose to break a lonely life, save money or just find an affordable acommodation in a difficult market. This way of life has numerous advantages in term of money, practicality or social life. EASYEXPAT in partnership with EASYROOMMATE number one for flatsharing, offers this service to its users to present all the chances to find the ideal flatmate or to join an existing household.

Hostels are the cheapest option and can be a great place to meet other people and enjoy the boisterous environment. On the other hand, the prominence of Barcelona's club scene may mean that people are here to party rather than sleep.

      Consider:
    • Price
    • Location
    • Amount of beds per room
    • Amenities (internet, laundry room, bathrooms)
