Rent house or flat in Bangalore

Guides: Bangalore > Accommodation / Rent house or flat
    14/05/2011

Renting an apartment in Bangalore can be a very pricey affair. Rents vary widely depending on the location you wish to stay in and owners demand a huge deposit. It is standard practice to ask for a deposit of anything between six months to a year upfront. This is before you have even moved to your rental home.

Also remember that until payments are made and documents signed, anything can change. It is common for landowners to promise you an apartment only to give to someone else if the other party offered a higher rent. So make sure everything is in writing and that you move in as soon as possible.

If you're planning to rent an apartment in Bangalore, it is best to go through a professional real estate agency. There are a number of websites to help you in your house hunt. Below are a few to get you started.

    specialised service
I can only underline, that the agent is a necessary service provider. Web sites can only give a first idea, but because of the size of Bangalore (10mio people) it is difficult to select the right house or flat. Here you need help of a professional agent. Unfortunatly there are also plenty of them and not all are proefessional or only interested in their earnings. We had several different which was not much better, was only increasing the confusion. At the end we landed up with ZAAS-expathousing (www.expathousing.in) specialised only on the needs of expats, managed by a Swiss professional in that field - Silvia Zieger, and I hae to say that was a difference. Clear understanding of our requirments, clear suggestions about locations, well selected houses and a pleasant tour well organised and with lots of useful information. For sure a specialist for us expats and a trustworthy partner. We were happy for my wife, my kids and me, Andy.
