    The Greek Language Centre, based in Athens’ second city Thessalonica, is responsible for supporting and promoting the Greek language both inside and outside of the country:

    Its activities include setting various levels of exams in the Greek language and awarding certification of fluency levels in Greek.

    Greek as a foreign language is taught at the following institutes:

    The Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs has established Coordination Offices worldwide which are responsible for supervising and administering the teaching of Greek abroad while acting as liaison offices for tertiary level education. Consult their website for more information:

    Greek courses abroad are also run by the Greek Cultural Institute through its various international branches:

    Founded during the period of foreign language expansion in the early 1950’s the Papaeliou Schools of Foreign Languages is a school dedicated to teaching English and French and offers certificates such as Cambridge, Michigan, TOEFL, IELTS and DELF:
