    Banking is highly developed and modern in the Netherlands. There have been a number of mergers in recent times but there are some key banks that offer a wide range of services, from internet banking to overseas money transfers. Some of the key banks in the Netherlands include:

    ABN AMRO has recently been taken over by a consortium of three European banks, Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS), Fortis, and Banco Santander. Fortis uses the ABN AMRO brand name for Fortis's retail banking operations in the Netherlands http://www.abnamro.nl

    Fortis is a banking, insurance, and investment management company, and is the 20th largest business in the world by revenue. The Benelux countries are Fortis' home base and its strength https://www.fortisbank.nl

    ING Groep N.V. (known as ING Group) is a financial institution of Dutch origin offering banking, insurance and asset management services. In 2007 Forbes Global 2000, it was ranked as the tenth largest company in the world.

    ING Direct: This is the branchless version of the ING Groep. It offers services over the Internet, phone, ATM or by mail. Their principal product is high-interest savings accounts, with no service charges or minimum account balance requirements.

    Posbank is a large Dutch bank, part of the ING Group. It has 7.5 million private account holders and is one of the largest providers of financial services in the country. It has no branches but operates completely through land mail, telephone and telebanking, although some operations have traditionally been available through post offices.

    Rabobank is a Dutch cooperative banking institution with offices all over the world, although primarily in the Netherlands.
