You know you're in the Netherlands when you receive loads and loads of letters. From the bank to the government, you can expect a barrage of post on a daily basis. Though a lot of information is being processed online these days, it will still be a familiar sight to come home to an overflowing mailbox.

TNT Post is the main postal operator in the Netherlands, processing 17 million postal items each day. There are letter boxes on every other street corner. These letterboxes will normally have two openings - one for letters within a local postcode and another for letters beyond the immediate locality. Check to make sure you drop your envelope in the right slot.

For more information on fares and a complete listing of postal services please click here. http://www.tntpost.nl

The cost of sending a letter depends on its weight; the heavier, the costlier. A standard letter that weighs 20gms and sent within Holland costs 44 cents and the cost of sending the same letter outside the country is 70 cents. There are a number of priority and security options that you can choose.
